St. Louis and it's wonderful architecture.

Gateway Arch (1965, Eero Saarien) is the tallest structure in St.
Louis at 630 feet, but it usually isn't counted among the tallest buildings.

Metropolitan Square (1988, HOK Architects), ranks #1 as the tallest office
building in St. Louis at 593 feet, 42 stories. It keeps our AFE Chapter
President busy, as he is the Chief Engineer. (pictured above-right)
Laclede Gas Building (1969, Emery Roth and Sons), ranks #5 of the tallest
office buildings in St. Louis at 400 feet, 35 stories. It keeps our AFE Member
Mr. Creech busy, as he is the Chief Engineer. (pictured above-left)

Broadway( 1971, Smith and Enterzoth) is tied at 13th place in the tallest office
buildings in St. Louis at 282 feet, 22 stories. This is where November meeting
with Trane Company will be held.

Interesting facts:
- HOK(Hellmuth,
Obata & Kassabaum) is the largest architectural firm in the
world. Their worldwide headquarters is in Metropolitan Square. (and
they designed it too) Their cool
website is symbolic of their cool building designs. :>)
- Our Civil Courts Building is intended to resemble the Mausoleum at
Halicarnassus.
- An industrial marvel when it was built in 1918, the Anheuser-Busch (Bevo)
Plant measured 620 feet long (more than two football fields) and 225 feet
wide.
