“Earthquakes: Mean Business”Annual, Free Education & Outreach Event The
annual “Earthquakes: Mean
Business” program will be held on
Earthquake Awareness Week is arranged by the regional geoscience,
engineering, and emergency management community to showcase the issue of
earthquake hazards and earthquake risk in the central US.
The speakers will address: ·
regional earthquake hazards (why
earthquakes occur here); ·
a scenario for a “high-magnitude
six” earthquake (what we can expect); ·
how earthquake risk can be managed
(engineering resources and solutions); ·
a case-study of how one Fortune 50 firm
is taking steps to lower its earthquake risk exposure; and ·
an update on the St. Louis Area
Earthquake Hazards Mapping Project.
The “Earthquakes: Mean
Business” program will be held at the AT&T Data Center Auditorium, at
Ninth and Chestnut streets in downtown
There is no charge to attend the program.
