AFE is your Gateway to the world !

____________

Who We Are...

When you think of facilities engineering, think of just three letters...AFE, the Association for Facilities Engineering. AFE is a professional organization of 9,000 members. We bring together professionals who ensure the optimal operation of plants, grounds and offices at Fortune 500 manufacturers, universities, medical centers, government agencies and innovative small firms from around the world. And, they all look to AFE as the leading technical resource on engineering issues.

Our History...

AFE can trace its earliest roots back to 1915 with a group of plant engineers who informally pooled their talents in Boston. In 1954, the group took the name AIPE or American Institute of Plant Engineers.

Since 1956, AFE went international with the formation of a chapter in Montreal, Canada. In 1995, AFE members voted to change the organization's name to the Association for Facilities Engineering, to better identify with the broader-based technical expertise of its members. Today, AFE is an international organization with active chapters throughout the United States and around the world. AFE's members come from countries all over, including Europe, Egypt, Australia, Canada, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the list continues to grow.

Members are from leading companies, like Hershey Chocolate, Hewlett Packard, Hughes Aircraft Company, Ingersoll-Rand Company, Intel Corporation, Jefferson Smurfit Corporation, Johnson Controls Inc., Lockheed Martin, Boeing Company, Dow Chemical Company, even members from the U.S. Department of Energy. University members too like University of California, Berkeley. These are just a small fraction of our members and available resources for members to network with.

Our members maintain occupations such as CEOs, Presidents, General Manager, Chief Engineer, Engineering Manager, Project Engineer, Safety & Environmental Engineers, Sales Manager, Facilities Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, Facility Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, Controls Technician, and Retired personnel.
